aigmented photograph
This term refers to any photograph that has been “augmented” with the addition of any AI-generated content.
Little more than a year after the debut of AI-generated-content technologies in late 2021 and early 2022, large imaging companies had integrated aigmenting (“generative fill”) capabilities into their photographic-processing software:
• Aigmented photos differ from traditionally “augmented” photos in that the latter used photography-based tools for manipulations instead of AI-GC.
• Aigmented photos differ from plaigis (photo-like AI-generated images) in that aigmented photos start out as photographs, while plaigis are created without a camera.
• Such distinctions may matter far less to the public than they matter to some imagemakers; see for example FAQ #115.
Because they cannot even get past P1 and P2, aigmented photographs are always disqualified from TTG.
Would AI disclosure labels apply to aigmented photos?
