TTG Plus > FAQs > More still on FAQ #118

Why do photographers often want to let viewers know when a “Wow” photo has not been doctored or aigmented?

Because the photographer is expressing “a longing as old as human history”:

1. You see something remarkable.

2. You tell others about what you saw.

3. You want them to believe you.

The problem for photographers who want their photos to be “believed” is that in the digital age...

. . . viewers cannot judge a photograph’s trustworthiness no matter how hard they look — but viewers can instantly judge a photograph’s appearance.

That’s why until TTG came along it was a no-brainer for photographers to optimize “appearance” instead of “trustworthiness.”

TTG was created to level the playing field (see #4 here) so that photographers who choose to optimize trustworthiness are no longer at a disadvantage.
