The key to understanding TTG
TTG photos are records, not “reality”
-
A. This was the starting point for TTG:
Adults in the 21st century have seen millions of visual images and have compared the images they see to the real world...
and thus they can “read” any photo as long as it is not doctored and not misrepresentative.
-
B. Why is “A” called the starting point for TTG?
“A” explains why TTG is always about celebrating records and never about equating photos with “reality.” (See Myths #1 and #2)
-
C. If it’s not about reality, why do viewers say “Wow! Is this real?”
Because they want to know how much they can trust the photo.
They are asking whether they are seeing what they call a “real” photo—
— or whether they are seeing AI-generated content.
What does that have to do with trust?
TTG never uses the term
“real” except in quotation marks
