1. “Unmanipulated” (not required by TTG)

There is no such thing as an “unmanipulated” digital photograph, because every digital photo undergoes “manipulations” inside the device or camera from the instant it is recorded (before the photographer even sees the image on the screen; see #3–5 here).

2. “Unaltered” (not required by TTG)

This term describes the most original, least-changed version of the photo that can be obtained from the device or camera after any internal processing that cannot be disabled. The “unaltered” version of a photo is what will be used in VUOs. More on “unaltered” photos.

3. “Undoctored” (required by TTG)

Photos that undergo no changes other than than TTG’s Allowable Changes are considered “undoctored.” Like newsphotos, all TTG-qualified photos are “undoctored,” as per P2.
